The cardinal aim of this study was to examine the level of social support, quality of life,and suicidal ideation among people living with HIV/AIDS. Total participants was 300 (n=300) AIDS patients, both males and females selected through purposive sampling technique. Enriched Social Support Inventory by Mitchell et al. (2003) Quality of Life Scale by Sharma and Nasreen (2014) and Suicidal Ideation Scale by Sisodia and Bhatnagar (2011) was used for measurement of social support, quality of life, and suicidal ideation among participants. Data was analyzed through Mean, t-test, one way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation by using SPSS 20.0 version. The results showed that majority of(80.33%) patients have low level of social support,(25%) moderate level of quality of life, and (73.33%) average level of suicidal ideations respectively. Finding also revealed that male, married and patients from joint famines have higher social support, and quality of life than female, unmarried and patients from nuclear families. Whereas, female, unmarried and patients from nuclear families have high suicidal ideations than male, married and patients from joint families respectively. Further the findings also confirmed that age, occupation and duration of illness has their influence on social support, quality of life, and on suicidal ideation. Simultaneously the results divulge that social support is positively significant correlated with quality of life (.654), but negatively correlated with suicidal Ideation (-.901). Negative significant correlation was found between quality of life and suicidal Ideation (-.747). Demographical variables viz gender, marital status, family type, age, occupation and duration of illness were significantly correlated with social support quality of life and suicidal ideation respectively.Keywords

The present study intended to examine the level of optimism, happiness, and self esteem among University students. Further, the study strived to find the correlation between the variables. This study consisted sample of 60 University students with equal number of male and female participants, selected through purposive sampling technique. The life orientation test revised (LOT-R) by Scheier, Carver, and Bridges (1994); Oxford happiness questionnaire (OHQ) developed by Hills and Argyle (2002); and Self esteem scale constructed by Rosenberg (1965) were used to measure optimism, happiness, and self esteem respectively For statistical analysis Mean, t-Test, and Pearson Correlation were applied by using SPSS 20.0 version. The results revealed that male and 20-24 years old students have high level of optimism, happiness, and self esteem than female and 25-28 years old students. Significant difference was found between the mean scores of male and female students in respect to their optimism, happiness, and self esteem, whereas in significant difference was found between the mean scores of 20-24 years old and 25-28 years old students in respect to their optimism, happiness, and self esteem. Further results also revealed that there is positively significant correlation between optimism, happiness, and self esteem. Concurrently, gender is negatively significant correlated with optimism, happiness, and self esteem, whereas age was found negatively in significant correlated with optimism, happiness, and self esteem respectively On the basis of the findings of the present study we may conclude that gender has an influential impact on optimism, happiness, and self esteem, whereas age does not.Keywords

The cardinal aim of the present study was to find the level of social support, self-esteem and suicidal ideation among HlV/AlDS patients. Further, the study strived to find the relationship between the experimental and criterion variables. The study consists the sample of 259 AIDS patients selected through purposive sampling technique, out of 259 respondents 108 (41.7%) were male and 151 (58.3%) were female patients. Enriched Social Support Inventory developed by Mitchell et al. (2003); Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale (1965); and Suicidal Ideation Scale developedbySisodiaandBhatnagar(2011)was used to measure the level of social support, self-esteem and Suicidal Ideation among HIV/AIDS patients. For the statistical analysis of data Mean, t-test, one-way Anova and Pearson Correlation was applied by using SPSS20.0 version. The findings undercover that majority of patients have average level of suicidal ideations n=184(71.05%), followed by n=37(14.29%) having the high level, n=36(13.89%)very high level and n=2 (0.77%) having low of suicidal ideation respectively. The study also revealed that n=212 (81.85%) participants have low level of social support andn=47 (18.15%) have high level of social support. Synchronically, huge number of respondents n=124(47.87%) showed low level of self esteem, followed by n=116(44.79%)having normal level, and n=19 (7.34%) showed high level of self esteem respectively. The findings also confirmed that there are significant mean differences between social support, self esteem and suicidal ideation with respect to gender, marital status, age, occupation, family income, and duration of iMess. Further the findings shows that suicidal Ideation is negatively significant correlated with social support (-.897) and self esteem (-.780). Synchronically, social support was found positively significant correlated with self esteem(.811).Keywords

The cardinal object of the present study was to investigate the locus of control and big five personality factors among lovely professional university students. Further the study also strived to find out the relationship between locus of control and big five personality factors. For this purpose the sample of 100 samples were selected from Lovely Professional University through simple random sampling technique. Rotter's Locus of control Scale and Big five personality traits constructed by John and Srivastava were used for assessment purpose. For statistical analysis independent t-test and correlation analysis was applied by using SPSS 20.0 version. The result revealed that there is no significant gender and age difference found in big five personal factors and locus of control. Further no significant relationship between locus of control and big five personality traits.Keywords
